By Bonnie Adams (8-15-08, Rev. 9-6-12)

“For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made... Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance and in Your book were written all the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.” (Psalm 139)

When I first read this passage I had to read it again. Was God saying that He knew me before I was in my Mother’s womb? Psalm 139 clearly defines when life begins. Saint Thomas Aquinas wrote that creation begins at conception and life begins with the first heartbeat. But even Aquinas’ point of view did not agree with God. If the courts can decide when life begins and it disagrees with God, haven’t they replaced God’s laws with their own? Isn’t that a religion?

There is something broken about our nation and I believe it started with the systematic attempt to remove God from our moral baseline. Denying life status to the unborn was just one catastrophic and grievous result by an overreaching Supreme Court who used Roe vs. Wade to legalize genocide. I believe when a government defines moral right and wrong outside of God’s purview it is in essence establishing moral values that equate to religion.

Webster’s Dictionary helps to make my point:

Moral is defined as “good.
Good is defined as “pious”.
Pious is defined as “religious”.

The Court’s made a moral decision that inserted Government into church affairs. The First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;…” In other words, Congress may not force a state religion upon its citizens. But weren’t the courts playing God when they determined when life begins? Then, by legalizing abortion, the Judiciary created the state religion that sanctions the sacrifice of our unborn to the gods of promiscuity.

When a Government defines its own morality they are free to make laws that completely disagree with God. This is a trap that makes room for the insidious assumption that what is thereby legal must also be inherently moral. Therein lies the confusion and perhaps the reason the Government of our post Christian nation has lost its authority to make moral decisions. Perhaps because we are Biblically illiterate, we follow a perception of good that is defined by man rather than by God. If we don’t know God’s WORD, how can we possibly obey God’s WORD?

Roe vs. Wade was a heinous decision that legalized murder. But the Government is not to blame for this wholesale slaughter of the innocent. Moral decisions come from Bible-Torah literacy, not from legislation. Roe vs. Wade aside, Americans have not been forced to kill our babies. Abortion statistics are staggering because we, (yes, I mean Judeo-Christians) have chosen to murder our unborn. Abortion and terrorism are both wars against humanity. But the battleground for the unborn should be (and should have been) waged from the home (church), not the Supreme Court.

I believe that liberals have used the abortion debate to pit conservatives against each other. While we strain gnats out of our teeth, liberals stand as one, and another election falls to the liberal juggernaut. We must not be surprised and react militantly when our candidates fail to reflect our Godly values. Like our children, they are merely a product of Government “training”. Parents have allowed Government to be moral arbiters. That’s just wrong and it has caused us to lose our way. Don’t you think we could turn this lost ship if families actually taught Godly principles from the home? We don’t need the government or the village to help us raise moral people. In fact I’m quite certain the only thing the village can raise is the village idiot. In Deuteronomy 11, God instructs us how to raise moral people.

“And you shall teach them (God’s statutes and ordinances… V1) to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up.” V19.

HGTV has a slogan that hits the mark. “Change the World, Start At Home”. If we are faithful to God, He will be faithful to us. Test Him. Train your children to obey God’s laws, and the world will be changed!

In his 1982 best seller, “Megatrends”, John Nesbitt makes the point that lasting and genuine trends start from the bottom (the home or the street). Synthetic and fleeting fads start from the top (advertising or government).

To protect civilization, we must practice and teach God's law from the home then watch as His laws naturally “trend” up and out to correct our drifting nation.

Without the counsel of Scripture, the Supreme Court cannot be trusted to make moral decisions. Our post Christian secular Government supports perverse immoral legislation like same sex marriage and nonsense climate change laws. Law makers believe hack alarmists who predict weather voodoo years from now, while the same law makers lament the inaccuracy of today’s forecast over cocktails in the Capital cafeteria.

Government is our friend when it sticks to the business of protecting every citizen, when it provides infrastructure and when it keeps its checkbook in balance. As much as possible we should try to elect Godly leaders, fiscally conservative leaders, military leaders and people who have had experience running their own business in the private sector. This old ship won't turn without a moral, Godly rudder. We won't find that rudder in our courts or in our houses of Government. That moral rudder is in the houses of the “people” and cannot be legislated from us. So... we are without excuse.

Moreover, we should be informed and not easily swayed by an anti-American agenda disguised as “concern”. When politicians start using the word, “concern” you can bet Government is sniffing around to further encroach on your freedom. Concern is a wedge in the door to fascism.

In no way am I advocating anarchy. On the contrary, it is the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize murder of the unborn that is anarchy. If you are old enough and you weren’t taking drugs in the 70’s, reflect back on that time. Does today’s society look more organized? … more civilized? … more informed? … more evolved? … more improved? It doesn’t take a cultural analyst or a Social Engineer to recognize that our culture is in serious decline.

Churches are full of men and women forgiven of the sin of murder. Praise God. We are a nation with blood on our hands and there will be a day of reckoning. With Christ our sins are washed away and we are able to stand in His presence, reconciled through His sacrifice on the cross at Calvary. I stand amazed at His love for me and for you.

If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:13-14)
