To all faithful friends of our SPIM research Bulletins,
First an apology to any of you that thought the sponsors of SPIM may have been “raptured” over these last 3 months devoid of a Bulletin--and you were still here toughing it out!
Not a chance!
We have never been under more pressure in our lives, however. My latest book, “Hatred of the Jew: Why and When Did the Barrage Begin?”came out in early April which in itself instigated a time-out of SPIM’s focus on “searching the Scriptures” to pick up on probing the presently ever-escalating global trauma.
We had promoted the new book across our two key East Coast states of Australia before moving on to contribute to several major conferences in the USA plus not a few churches. Here’s a YouTube trailer on antiSemitism and “Hatred of the Jews” https://youtu.be/fgTTfUORyf4 but please ignore anything else YouTube may choose to tack on after the short trailer from our book.
Except for one minor “pre-Trib Tangle” in the interim, the major consensus was that this has been my best book yet, notwithstanding that all credit rests with the Creator who issued not only His assignment, but the ensuing inspiration.
For more on the pre-Trib trauma let’s go back to our title, “The True Timing of the Rapture” Let me give you my own personal journey first, following further down with a bit of scholarly reinforcement on the rest.
I grew up presuming that a fly-by-night (or day) rapture was somewhere found in the Good Book. However, when I translated the 11th Chapter of Revelation back in 1976 into the PNG Angal Heneng New Testament, I received my first wake-up jolt on the mischief of the matter. Something was seriously wrong!
While Revelation does not directly address that fly-away theory, other facts started to ominously fall into place and I began to realize that what I had been programmed to think was wrong! It’s not Biblical, but what’s more, it’s anti-Semitic.
On the credibility side of the issue, however, as a Bible Translator I had learned that the oldest available biblical manuscripts were the most reliable. Some of the later manuscripts had sadly been “sanitized” by ambitious scribes who in copying them by hand, "adjusted" the text to fit their own fanciful understanding.
And so it was with the so-called “Darby Rapture”. The first ever mention of such an event is in Zech 14:1-5 in general, and Zech 14:5 in particular—that is, the long-promised glorious in-gathering of the saints!
“A day of the LORD is coming…I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women ravished. Half of the city will go into exile but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle. On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west…with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south…
And then that crucial verse 5: "Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.”
But not before! This is the only biblical mention of when any “rapture-type” gathering will ever take place. That’s when His feet touch the Mt. of Olives! And again, it's not before!
The neo-popularized text appearing over 6 centuries later in 1 Thess 4:15-16 gives not even a hint of the timing. Thus the follow-on Thessalonians reference must align with that earliest Zechariah reference. And it certainly does if we let it!
Unfortunately, those mentalities that have demoted the Hebrew Scriptures to being superseded and irrelevant will be in big trouble! Let’s check it it out in 1 Thess 4:15-17:
“According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.” And especially verse 17: “After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”
In the air, where? Couldn’t possibly be over the Mount of Olives of the New Jerusalem, could it!
Also all of other references assumed to be back-up for John Darby’s 1830 “invention” such as Mat. 24:13-41; 2 Thess 2:3; and 2 Tim 1-7, 13, and all of which must certainly harmonize with--and will be clear only--in the context of Zech 17:5-6. Moreover, the point of meeting will be over the Mount of Olives—not anywhere else!
That is bona fide Bible Translation insight into the issue, but even less technical research can be Googled including such titles as:
Torah Babies—Learning the A-B-C’s of Torah;
Brethren Pastor John Darby 1830AD.
The Origin of Rapture False Doctrine: John Darby1830AD, which indictment includes a plethora of popular seminaries and authors that naively gave over-populist promotion to Darby’s inspiration merely from 18-year old Margaret Mc-Donald’s night-time dream, without any notice of Zechariah’s earlier bedrock Hebraic prophecy.
If you want the whole truth and nothing but the truth, you must Google the above biblicalresearch.
There is also an additional mass of credible research already on line. But the final nails in the Darby coffin came only last week on WND’s report:
Christians abandon popular end-times doctrine: For nearly 2,000 years, Christians have been trying to predict the Second Coming of Christ, with their eye on the Bible and contemporary events. And for decades many American Christians have embraced the doctrine of a secret pre-tribulation rapture as the key to interpreting Scripture and the news.
Now a renowned Bible-prophecy teacher is slaying their sacred cow. Credible filmmaker, evangelist, and renowned Bible prophecy teacher, Joel Richardson adds an additional dimension in the following URL:
But finally--last but hardly least--my own“Hatred of the Jews—Why and when did the Barrage Begin? adds one more “why” on page 75 to the dubious origins of—shall we call it--the Darby drama?
Metaphorically, young Margaret McDonald more or less intercepted the pass, John Darby blazed it to the opposing goal posts, Schofield kicked the extra point, and cheerleaders Lindsay and LaHaye led the wildly cheering stadium—except that the game was nowhere near over!
I reckon the Eternal Coach’s hand picked, Prophet Zechariah, will be the big winner—man of the match even--and there should be no surprises when it really does end!
Blessings and Shalom,
