Unemployment of returning Veterans according to Government Statistics (which I rarely believe) is 9%
According to Stars and Stripes suicide rates have jumped to 44%?
Can you imagine returning home, disconnected from your military service with no job, no home, nothing?
Or worse coming home to a broken family with virtually nothing Or even worse still, returning home facing years of rehabilitation, medical bills, doctors, trips to the VA (Obamacare before steroids).
In fairness to the VA, I am a veteran who endured brain surgery, a major car accident and cancer. The VA in Portland and Seattle has taken very, very good care of me over the years. The process is difficult but I am a living testament to the care available.
As I learn about various programs, non profits and things that are available to returning veterans I am going to write about them highlighting what is being done. NS2 was on FOX News this morning. Prior to this news segment I was unaware of them. I have been so caught up in sharing my faith that I moved away from a passion of mine which is supporting our troops. Going to get back into doing the work needed, desperately needed for our returning military personal.
