To call myself an African American is to me, expressing my connection to Africa as an American. I have never been to Africa.
Referring to myself as an African American aligns me with a racial identity based on what evil people have done and or how decent people have been deceived. Un-forgiveness based on stolen identity, not Kingdom reality is foundational to the African Americanism because most, like myself have never been to Africa. The term, in my opinion continues to steal from the "Love of GOD". He commanded us to love our neighbor and he asked us to forgive one another.
The term African American ignores the Islamic slave trade of Africa which ruled over Africans for centuries. The term African American clearly reminds folks of the evil done by evil people. Violence, hatred, and captivity are not a part of FREEDOM but Freedom is fought for and millions have died as a result. These were not African Americans but rather, brothers and sisters according to...why Adam was created in the first place.
"I am African American because.....why exactly?"
Me personally, I don't know how to be an African American........My God called me by name!
